The House of Care is a private, non-profit, grass roots organization that was established to provide the highest quality of personal care possible to low-to-moderate income individuals with compromised health or with terminal illness. Our residents need assisted living, not the skilled care that would be provided in a nursing home or hospital setting. By having a full-time caregiver, the individual is eligible to access hospice care, as needed. We have received community block grant funds, grants from the Centre County Community Foundation and the Kent Richard Hofman Foundation; funds from community service clubs, contributions from faith-based organizations, and generous community members. We also conduct frequent fundraising activities. We will continue to apply for other grants and additional funding streams that would support our mission.
Our mission is to serve those who have been under-served in the past or whose choices have been limited. We have received grants from the Centre County Community Foundation to supplement hospice care for our residents who choose that service. In our hopes of continuing to serve a vast population of those in need, primarily those who lack sufficient funds or family resources, we must continually seek out EVERY AVENUE possible for financial support.
Most of our residents are only able to pay rent that covers 30% of the daily cost of their care. The community's generosity and support make up the difference. This community support has enabled us to open our home and provide care to 60 residents in our first eight years of operation. In order to continue to provide services to those experiencing a loss of health and a need for affordable housing, we look to family members, friends, and the caring community at large to help us meet our fiscal obligations.
Any monetary gift the House of Care receives would be greatly appreciated. Each $60 donation provides one day of subsidized care for a low income resident. Why not ADOPT a resident for a week or for a month? Provide one week of care for a resident at $420, or one month of care for $1800.
Donations are TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
